Kinja'd!!!

Kylie Jenner just got a fucking LaFerrari from Travis Scott. Not only am I mad and jealous because she doesn’t deserve this, but dude is stupid af. He buys a car that’s pretty much 2 million dollars and his own net worth is estimated to be 8 million. He bought a car that’s 25% of his net worth for a girl that’s worth 50 million dollars.

Give it a year tops and it will be for sale in the used market at a premium due to “past celebrity ownership” and the fact that it’ll be something that gets put away and hardly ever driven and she’ll get bored with it. Not salty, just how shit goes when cars like this get bought as gifts.

Low net worth and high cash flows are a bad combination. The salesman probably closed the deal by selling the monthly payment.

For a really good read on that exact topic, read The Millionaire Mind. Basically there’s two types of wealthy people - balance sheet affluent and income statement affluent. Balance sheet affluent people may not have large incomes, but do have significant savings. Income statement affluent have large incomes, but a lot of the time, bad/expensive habits along with them.

UGH

I hate the new super/hypercar buyer. In the past, you truly had to be an enthusiast to buy a Ferrari/Lambo/Etc. Why? Because the cars were difficult and inconvenient to drive, hard to maintain, and require skills that only enthusiasts possessed or tried to learn. Now with all the fancy computer trickery, flappy paddle gear boxes, Toyota reliability, etc., it is very easy to have an exotic. The exotic market has been changing from the guy/gal who knew and respected the pedigree, the power, the handling, and dreamed of one day orchestrating the harmony of Italian cylinders revving past 8k RPM, echoing through the canyons. Now, any trust fund manager, one hit wonder, new money show-off, can buy these exotic works of art and brag about it. These cars are no longer to be appreciated by a skilled driver. They are to be wrapped in ridiculous colors, instagramed to drive ad traffic, or just to show off that you’ve made it. As someone who dreamed about owning a Ferrari since I was 6, the thought figuratively makes me a little sick.

That’s why the 911 is so appealing, because they want flashy cars and the 911 just isn’t that. If you want the big wing on the car you need to put up with track suspension and no back seats. And to buy the Turbo, it has few exterior features that discern it from one that’s half the price.

Kinja'd!!! SPAMBot - Horse Doctor > Liam Farrell

This is a very good point. If you go in and buy the “most expensive 911" you are not going to have a fun time when you try to drive it home haha

Yes exactly, you are pretty much buying a full on race car, you could argue that the LaFerrari is close to that too with its mounted bucket seats and lack of features. It will be just a few months that it’s back on the market after they realize that this isn’t exactly a comfortable and easy to drive car.

I don’t think the supercar buyer has changed. Our whole society has, along with music and art as a whole. Some for better, some for worse.
The Beatles were once the equivalent to Biebers and Kardashians. They were considered young punks, who were untalented (in the eyes and ears of the older generations) and who were disruptors of pop culture, undeserving of all the money and attention from that time. Just like you consider Kylie Jenner to be. And so was Elvis, Sinatra and Dean Martin, or whoever you think deserved their Ferrari in the good ole days. Pick any time in history and the mainstream music and celebrities of the day were considered worthless by the older generations.

And Just because Kylie Jenner is only talented for instagram selfies (which is a gross generalization in itself, but ok). In the 60s it was equally as ridiculous to buy a Ferrari like this, as it is today. Today we’re even used to seeing Lambos on the streets, when back then to see a young asshole in a Ferrari was even more obnoxious.

And I don’t think you had to know the heritage, or that you had to have so much extra skill and talent to drive those cars, because remember, you’re comparing a LaFerrari to a Camry, just as you would a 250 SWB to a Fiat 1100. Both have crap technology and both are difficult to drive, because that’s just what the cars were like then. Any car, not just a supercar, required more skill to operate than today. They all had drum brakes with no servo’s, manual gearboxes and heavy clutches and steering. (Speaking in European terms, so I’m guessing that a big Chevy with an automatic was probably easier to drive). To drive any regular car - not just a supercar - you had to know about rev-matching, feeling the road conditions and being more engaged in driving.

—-

That said, I do agree that these people are obnoxious. The extremes which describe what we consider normal are expanding every day exponentially. Marilyn Monroe was a hoe back then for showing ankles or whatever the fuck, just how these women are today for posting nude selfies. I’m of this time, so I feel like these people are obnoxious. I can’t imagine what the next generations after me would consider appropriate.

She is the exact type of person that Ferrari wants sitting in their cars. Most modern Ferrari’s aren’t going to go to a track so why not put it somewhere where it will get as much public exposure as humanly possible?

well... we might never know the truth behind their money... I honestly doubt they show their real net worth.

I don’t think humans deserve anything... we’re just lucky to be given or to take the opportunities that come across.

Maybe in his shit of brains logic he thinks its a good investment, or maybe she does and this is a huge facade and she bought the car...

Yep, pretty much that. It’s a damn shame too, ya know? Enthusiasts would kill for a car like that, yet the rich, not all of them, but a lot of them, see it as a toy and something the tabloids can write about. Such is the world we live in my friend.

I couldn’t tell you how we viewed celebrities back then because I wasn’t alive haha. But I feel like the ratio of Steve McQueen and Paul Newman types who owned the highest end sports cars out numbered the rich and famous who bought them as a status symbol. But I have honestly have no experience, only perception.

I can say from experience, 60's/70's muscle cars are much easier to drive than any exotic I’ve experienced from the 80's or 90's. This is the era I was mostly referring to, Miami excluded. LOL

I don’t think it was a lease because not too long after she got it she got it painted gray. But I’m not sure what happened to that car. Nothing has been said about it nor has it been seen as far as I know since at least late ‘15 or early ‘16. She probably got rid of it. I remember it was rumored that she wrecked it but she denied it.
